Kritzlclouds are the sculptural remains—the residue of a participatory drawing project Kritzlschul initiated by art collectiv Alpine Gothic in spring 2026.
Ten schools and educational institutions were invited to draw, scribble, doodle, and scratch across large white paper surfaces, creating the point of departure for an immersive drawing installation. Throughout the exhibition, visitors were invited to continuously contribute to the work, allowing it to evolve collectively over several weeks.
Now, the remnants of this ongoing process are on pause and on display at MTGAIA.
The communal act of unintentional drawing has given rise to highly aesthetic sculptural forms, oscillating between clouds and boulders. Suspended between process and object, gesture and accumulation, they embody the traces of collective authorship and the material memory of participation.
